Bad Elster art gallery

Culture and fine art are deeply rooted in Bad Elster. A changing complex has enriched the city for centuries. In the 20th century, increased needs were met. Therefore, today you can admire the light-flooded and heated art gallery in the Bauhaus style, where regularly changing exhibitions by regional and national artists take place.

Historical and new art united in the Wandelhalle

In order to connect the Moritz and the salt springs, the walkway was built in 1861. This was replaced in 1928/29 by the modern facility that you can walk through today. Postelwitz Elbe sandstone was also used. On the forecourt of the KunstWandelhalle, an ornamental fountain provides a relaxing water feature. The sculptures “Mother with Children” and “Man with Dog” have framed the fountain since 1938.

The Saxon Bathing Museum Bad Elster opened in 2009 in the left side wing, where the salt spring was formerly located. You can still enjoy the Moritz Spring, discovered in 1669, today. The spring bar for the oldest used spring in Bad Elster can be found in the right wing.

The middle part is used all year round for art exhibitions and concerts of all genres. In addition, the “Young Podium” series is also held to promote young professionals in cooperation with the Saxon art and music universities.
