The Royal Kurhaus in Bad Elster reflects the relevance of Bad Elster as a place for relaxation and culture. The outstanding building in the Neo-Renaissance style represents the international importance of the health resort and spa. The Saxon royal spa was already highly valued in the 19th century and continues to enjoy great popularity today.

Experience a royal ambience

The idea for this cultural center of spa facilities came from influential Saxon social figures at the time. Under the direction of state architect Trobsch, the Royal Kurhaus was built in the year of the German Three Emperors, 1888 to 1890.

The design of the castle-like complex has been almost completely preserved. This is a rarity for such buildings. Therefore, great importance was placed on expertise and empathy during the renovation from 1996 to 1998.

As a “guest house”, the Royal Kurhaus is located in the heart of Bad Elster. The KunstWandelhalle, the Albert Bad and the König Albert Theater are in the immediate vicinity. Today the building is a stylish event venue and is also often rented for congresses and meetings. The two historic halls – the “Great Hall” and the “Blue Hall” – together with the covered terraces and modern furnishings offer an ideal setting for events with a “Royal Saxon” flair.
