KunstWandelhalle
Culture and fine arts are deeply rooted in Bad Elster. A promenade facility has enriched the city for centuries.
Historical and new art united in the Promenade Hall
In order to connect the Moritz Spring and the Salt Spring, the Promenade Corridor was built in 1861. This was replaced in 1928/29 by the modern facility you can walk through today. Postelwitz Elbe sandstone was also used in the process. On the forecourt of the KunstWandelhalle, an ornamental fountain provides a relaxing fountain. The sculptures “Mother with children” and “Man with dog” frame the fountain since 1938.
In the left side wing, where the salt spring used to be, the Saxon Spa Museum Bad Elster opened in 2009. The Moritz Spring, discovered in 1669, can still be enjoyed today. You can find the spring tap of the oldest used spring of Bad Elster in the right side wing.
The middle section is used year-round for art exhibitions and concerts of all genres. In addition, the series “Youth Podium” is also carried out in order to promote young professionals in cooperation with the Saxon art and music colleges.
