King Albert Theatre

A long theatre tradition is connected with the King Albert Theatre in Bad Elster. The impressive building is a centre of diverse cultural events.

Concerts, operas, theatre plays and more

The King Albert Theatre has a rich history. The theatre began to operate as early as 1888. From 1913 to 1914, the famous Chemnitz architects Alfred Zapp and Erich Basarke built a modern new building. In the auditorium, Doric columns meet the second Dresden Rococo style and create a refined ambience. In May 1914, His Majesty King Frederick August III of Saxony ceremoniously opened the King Albert Theatre as the last German court theatre.

Many outstanding artists and ensembles have already been welcomed on stage by the tradition-steeped theatre to offer unique moments to all theatre enthusiasts. Whether cabaret, orchestral concerts, masterpieces of great musicians, compositions from faraway countries, cheerful musical theatre, romantic operas, symphonies, festivals, satire, shows or puppet theatre - you will experience the whole world of theatre. Take a look at the program of events and let yourself be seduced by the art of theatre.
