Louisa Lake (gondola pond) in Bad Elster

In the years 1893 to 1895, Lake Louisa was created from a mined mineral peat deposit by horticultural inspector Paul Schindel. It was named in memory of the successful escape of Crown Princess Louise of Saxony from Bad Elster. Today you can rent rowing boats and water pedals to explore Lake Luisa. There is also a hiking trail that leads around Teich, so you can get an idea of the surrounding historic spa park while taking a walk. You are also welcome to recover from your hike or boat trip with a cup of coffee on site.
