5. Cookies

The acceptance of cookies is no precondition for visiting our websites. However, we would like to point out that our website and service will only work in a limited way if you do not allow us to set cookies.

5.1 What are cookies?

Cookies and flash cookies are small files, which are stored on your data carrier and which store specific configurations and data relating to the exchange with our system via your browser. A basic distinction is made between two different types of cookies, so-called session cookies, which are deleted as soon as you close your browser, and temporary/permanent cookies, which are stored on your data carrier for a longer period of time or permanently. This storage helps us to appropriately structure our website and our offers and makes usage easier for you, by storing certain entries made by you in such a way that you do not have to repeat them continually, for example.

5.2 Which cookies are used by the SSB?

The majority of the cookies used by us are automatically deleted again from your hard disk at the end of the browser session (end of the session, therefore these are called session cookies). Session cookies are required, for example, in order to offer you the shopping cart function across several pages. In addition, we also use cookies, which remain on your hard disk. When you visit our website again, it can be determined automatically, that you have visited our website before and which entries and settings you prefer. These temporary or permanent cookies (lifetime of one month up to ten years) are stored on your hard disk and are deleted automatically after the predetermined time. These cookies are mainly used for making our website more user-friendly, more efficient and safer. Thanks to these files it is possible, for example, to display information on the pages, which are specifically tailored to your interests. The exclusive purpose of these cookies is to customise our website optimally to your requests and to make browsing through our websites as comfortable as possible for you.

5.3 Which data are stored in the cookies?

No personal data are stored in the cookies used by the SSB. Therefore, the cookies used by us cannot be assigned to a specific person and thus also not to you. When the cookie is activated, an identification number is assigned to the cookie. It is not possible to assign your personal data to this identification number at any time. Your name, IP address or similar data, which would allow an assignment of the cookie to you, will not be requested at any time. On the basis of the cookie technology, we only receive anonymised information about which pages of our shop were visited, which products were looked at, etc.

5.4 Are there also cookies from third-party providers (so-called third-party cookies)?

The SSB uses several advertising partners, who help to structure the websites in a more interesting way for you. Therefore, cookies from partner companies are also stored on your hard disk when you visit our websites. These are temporary/permanent cookies which are deleted automatically after the predetermined time. These temporary or permanent cookies (lifetime 14 days to 10 years) will be stored on your hard disk and are deleted automatically after the predetermined time. The cookies of our partner companies also only include pseudonymous and mostly even anonymous data.

5.5 How can you prevent the storage of cookies?

You can set your browser in a way that the storage of cookies is only accepted if you agree to the storage. If you only want to accept the SSB cookies, but not the cookies of our service providers and partners, you can select the setting in your browser “Block cookies from third-party providers”. Usually, it is displayed in the menu bar of your web browser via the help function, how you can reject new cookies and switch off already stored cookies. In case of shared computers, which are set in a way, that cookies and flash cookies are accepted, we recommend to logout completely at the end of each session. However, we would like to point out that you may not be able to fully use all functions of this website in this case.

5.6 How frequently is this cookie declaration updated?

The SSB may change this cookie declaration in due time, for example, in order to consider modifications to the used cookies or if this is necessary for operational, legal or regulatory reasons. Please read this cookie declaration regularly in order to stay up-to-date with respect to our use of cookies and similar technologies.
