Bad Elster and surroundings / excursions
Bad Elster and its surrounding offer a huge variety of leisure activities and sights. Worthwhile destinations are for example the world of miniatures in Adorf and the neighbouring Botanic Garden - the home of about 11,000 different plants. In Markneukirchen’s musical instrument museums visitors are invited to risk a look over the shoulders of the violin makers. The outdoor museum in Eubabrunn gives an insight in how people were living and working in the Vogtland more than 100 years ago. Right here in Bad Elster you can find the Saxon Baths Museum ready for exploring. In the porcelain town of Selb everything revolves around the “white gold”. A carriage ride takes visitors back to a long gone past. No matter if the Temple of Flora or Waldschlösschen – the historic spa gardens do not only boast idyllic nature, but also architectural surprises. Well worth a visit is the Aerospace Exhibition in Morgenröthe-Rautenkranz. Another recommended excursion will take you from Bad Elster to the farmers’ village Raun (under preservation order) right through the impressive countryside of the Vogtland. If you feel like shopping, then you shouldn’t miss the town of Plauen, where you can also visit the famous Lace Museum.
